About Accentuate
I'm a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist helping people build clear, confident General American speech during the one season most people actually have time to focus on it: summer.
My Story
My path into this work started with learning Spanish. As I became more fluent, I experienced firsthand how people are judged not just on what they say, but on how it sounds. That judgment doesn't only affect intelligibility — it can quietly shape interviews, opportunities, and first impressions, no matter how hard someone has worked to get there.
I want to be clear about something: an accent isn't a flaw, and this work isn't about "fixing" something that's wrong. It's about giving people a choice. Unfortunately, accents are often judged unfairly — so I help clients build the tools to shift toward a General American accent if and when they decide it will open doors for them, on their own terms.
I built this as a summer-only program because that's when most people actually have the consistent time to make real progress — a focused stretch of practice instead of a slow trickle of lessons spread across a busy year.
My Approach
We work on the sounds and patterns that show up in your real conversations — not abstract phonetics drills.
An accent isn't a flaw — this is about giving you a choice in an unfair world, not changing something that's wrong with you. Every session is supportive and goal-focused.
Short, intensive, and designed to deliver visible progress in the weeks you have available.
